Ida A. Cortinas 10-30-1964 ~ 5-4-2009

The Goliad County Little League suffered a huge loss this week.  Ida Cortinas, Little League President, went to join her loved ones in Heaven on Monday, May 4, 2009.  Ida had been involved with the Goliad County Little League for the past 12 years.  She started out as a Board Member and worked her way up holding the offices of Secretary, Vice-President, and President throughout her12 years of service.  She also served on the District 27 Little League Board as Treasurer the past 6 years.  Ida was a dedicated volunteer that will be missed dearly.  Her greatest joy was to see the children out on the fields in Goliad enjoying the game of baseball.  She watched her sons play and this year she had the enjoyment of watching her granddaughter, Serenity, play T-ball for the first time.  Ida even had to make a deal with her that Nana would sit in the dug out so Serenity would play.  

A rosary will be recited at 7:00pm, on Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at the Catholic Church in Goliad.  Funeral Services will be at 10:00am, on Thursday, May 7, 2009, at the Catholic Church with burial following at the Flores Cemetery.

I went to high school with Ida. What I remember most about her was the smile that was always on her face and her readiness to laugh. She loved people.
She was good to who-ever crossed her path.

I pray that God's grace will fill her family and that they will find peace and comfort during this difficult time. God bless.

Ida was such a special person to me, the year and a half that I worked with her was wonderful, we always shared inside jokes, the trip that Jami & I went with her to San Antonio was so much fun! I will always treasure the pictures that I have from that weekend and from our trip to Monterrey! She was like my sister! I will miss her always.

I admired Ida for her courage and determination to take on such a stressful position as president of little league. She did a great job and did it all for the youth of Goliad. It was an honor to have worked with her on the board. She will be greatly missed. My deepest sympathy goes out to her family. God Bless you all.

It was a pleasure knowing such a beautiful and strong person. I enjoyed cooking Ida's favorite dish (conceit's). I enjoyed to watch her and her entire family eat, but most of all I had never seen someone make a slice of pepperoni pizza look so delicious when they were eating it like Ida did on the last day I saw her fighting for her life.
